Wednesday 22 July:

Went dawn walking as usual (very still, somewhat overcast first thing but brightening up by mid-morning)… then home for poached eggs+toast+espresso before Bloke’s Prayer get-together.
Last day of parliament before the summer recess… I’m a little fearful that the government will be hoping for something of an ‘out of sight, out of mind’ mentality from the electorate and general avoidance of scrutiny. Starmer yet again wins the PMQ exchanges.
Bitten all over by some insect or other… not nice!
Did a little sketching (listening to Lorde) and a little reading (‘Girl, Woman, Other’).
Moira and I enjoyed a mug of mid-afternoon tea together in the garden.
Watched another of Alan Bennett’s excellent ‘Talking Heads’ monologues.
Albion secured promotion to the Premier League (but needed their closest rivals to lose!)… Dad would have been pleased.
