Thursday 18 June:

Went for my regular harbourside dawn walk but, unlike the amazing weather we’ve enjoyed for most of lockdown to date, this morning’s weather was miserably wet… and it continued to rain throughout the day. Having said that, I really enjoyed my walk; I was dressed in all my waterproofs and therefore remained perfectly dry.
Morning coffee with Moira inside (obviously!).
The Premier League football games re-started last night – teams playing in empty stadiums. Villa fought out a goalless draw against Sheffield United (who had an obvious goal disallowed, despite having crossed the goal-line; VAR failed to spot it!). Although Villa probably should have won the game, the point might be important at the end of the season.
Spent a brief time checking out another ‘virtual’ urban sketching location for Saturday’s session in the Alhambra and then wrote some more H+C notes in advance of July’s PCC meeting (Lee and I also exchanged ideas at the end of the afternoon).
Read some more of my Will Dean book and then sketched out a grid for another possible version of Megan/Adam’s Birmingham drawing (I’m still not convinced).
Had a very nice email from Jeff (Bloke’s Prayer) and also one from David Shorey (Sally hasn’t been at all well – ‘deep drain bleed’ which is effectively a stroke). I responded to both.
Tried to ring Iris, then Rosa (but got voicemails), but DID manage to get to speak to Dan (in advance of ManU’s game on Saturday). Football seems to be the only thing he’s really interested in/prepared to chat about!
Received a lovely Father’s day card from Hannah (for this Sunday).
Watched the first episode a rather lovely documentary “Art of Persia”.
