Well, a simply stunning day weather-wise… clear skies and bright sunshine (very welcome on a lockdown Christmas Day!).
Moira and I enjoyed our traditional champagne and bacon sandwich breakfast and then opened our presents in the living room.
We even managed a walk to the harbourside (somewhat reduced from our ‘normal’ walk – but great that Moira’s hip was able to cope)… followed by a long bath and hot chocolate for Moira!
Spoke to Alan over the phone…
Simple, but very nice, smoked salmon lunch… plus Christmas cake!
We played Scrabble (I won narrowly won!)… the first time since January 2016, apparently.
The remainder of the afternoon was spent reading and vegetable preparation (for me), while Moira had a ‘lie down’ in readiness for frenetic food preparation!
Actually, everything went very smoothly (with the slight exception of the turkey taking longer to cook than anticipated) and we ate at around 6.30pm. Really excellent meal (and a rather lovely ‘black forest gateaux’ style pudding).
Inevitably, LOTS of washing up (for me!)… but everything went very smoothly.
I even joined Moira to watch ‘Call the Midwife’!!
Reasonably early to bed… it had been a good day. X
