A strange old day (and another very hot one!)…
Coffee in the garden with Moira as usual (these days) and we
discussed some of the initial steps it would be worthwhile making towards
starting to prepare for the ‘move’.
Ended up advertising the Edwardian throne chairs on FB
‘marketplace’ for £100 and the bed settee, dining chairs and dining table on a
‘free to collect’ site. Someone subsequently contacted us and arranged to
collect the table at 5pm (rapid need to dismantle things!)(the couple came
along to collect on foot and, between us, we decided it was too heavy to carry
to Coronation Road – they’re coming back tomorrow!) and someone else expressed
an interest in the throne chairs (but needed to check dimensions)… sadly, he
later came back to say they were too big!
I was determined to finish my ‘Heatwave’ book (which I duly
did) and wrote up a brief review… I’ve just started another Kate Atkinson book.
We had an Asda delivery due, but when Moira checked she
discovered that she’d accidently ticked the click-and-collect box!! So… we
marched down to Asda with an assortment of bags and trolleys and trundled back,
heavy-laden in scorching heat (it took Moira an hour to recover!).Supper in the garden again.
Evening telly: watched the first part of the first Men’s ‘One
Hundred’ cricket and then ‘Repair Shop’ on catch-up.
Image: we no longer have a dining table (well, it’s going to
be collected tomorrow)!

Diary of random thoughts and observations from the perspective of self-isolation/distancing... I don’t actually know what lies ahead of us… but it could get pretty awful over the coming days/weeks/months. ‘Old people’, like me, will be first group that the government asks to self-isolate. Obviously, as far as possible, we need to prepare – both practically and mentally. I’ve decided that I need this outlet for my reflections during the course of our days of isolation. March 2020
