Sunday 16 August:

Another very cloudy, murky start to the day. Sadly, the forecast didn’t really get any better – cloudy all day, with occasional light rain, and thunder storms at the end of the day. Hannah had mentioned how lovely it’s been (from the comfort of her bed) to watch the early morning sun through their new bedroom at the top of the house. Checking the weather forecast for the rest of our time here, it seems we may not have this privilege!
Anyway, we did manage to get out for a ‘dry walk’, which was lovely. We walked over Purdown (towards the Stoke Park Estate)… we probably only did about three miles, but it was good to be covering ‘different ground’. Back in time for lunch (in fact I took a detour via Tesco – first supermarket – to buy a newspaper and get myself some underwear!).
Gentle afternoon… Moira had a bath and read; I sketched and read.
Bed reasonably early to read.
